RBI Grade B 2025: Age Limit, Eligibility, Salary, Pattern

Applications are invited for the position of RBI Grade B Officer in the Reserve Bank of India. Eligible candidates include Indian citizens, as well as citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before 1st January 1962, and individuals of Indian origin who migrated from Myanmar or Sri Lanka with the intention of permanent settlement in India, provided they possess an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

What is RBI Grade B?

RBI Grade B refers to the recruitment of Grade B Officers in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Unlike clerical or assistant-level roles, this is a gazetted officer-level post, meaning you’re stepping right into leadership. As an RBI Grade B officer, you’re not just doing routine desk work. You’ll be part of decision-making teams that shape monetary policy, regulate banks, and stabilize India’s economy.

RBI recruits in three main streams:

  • General (DR-GEN) – open for graduates from any discipline
  • DEPR – Department of Economic and Policy Research
  • DSIM – Department of Statistics and Information Management

RBI Grade B : Salary and Perks

This is one of the biggest reasons aspirants aim for RBI.

  • Basic Pay: ₹78,450 per month
  • Gross Monthly Salary: approx. ₹1.5 lakh (excluding HRA)

  • DSIM: Master’s in Statistics/Mathematics/Data Science/AI/ML, or a four-year bachelor’s in related fields with minimum 60%.

RBI Grade B 2025 Notification: Key Dates

As per the official RBI notification:

  • Application Start Date: September 10, 2025
  • Last Date to Apply: September 30, 2025 (till 6 PM)
  • Phase I Exam (General): October 18, 2025
  • Phase II Exam (General): December 6, 2025
  • DEPR/DSIM Exams: October 19 & December 7, 2025

This timeline gives candidates just a few weeks to prepare strategically before the first exam stage.

RBI Grade B Age Limit (2025)

Eligibility is one of the most important parts of the notification. As of September 1, 2025, the RBI Grade B age limit is:

  • Minimum: 21 years
  • Maximum: 30 years

This means candidates must be born between September 2, 1995, and September 1, 2004.

Age Relaxation Rules

  • SC/ST candidates: up to 5 years
  • OBC (non-creamy layer): up to 3 years
  • PwBD: 10–15 years depending on category
  • Ex-servicemen: up to 5 years
  • Candidates with M.Phil/Ph.D.: relaxation up to 32 and 34 years respectively

RBI Grade B Exam Pattern

The selection process is divided into three stages:

1. Phase I (Prelims)

  • Objective-type paper for 200 marks
  • Subjects: General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning
  • Duration: 120 minutes

2. Phase II (Mains)

  • Three papers:
    • Economic & Social Issues (ESI)
    • English (Writing Skills)
    • Finance & Management
  • Mix of objective and descriptive questions

3. Interview

  • 75 marks
  • Final selection is based on Phase II + Interview scores
